Featured Resource

Smith-Hazel Recreation Center

The Smith-Hazel Recreation Center has been the heartbeat of the Sugar Hill community for decades. Originally established as a vital gathering space for Aiken's African American community during the era of segregation, it has grown into a beloved resource for all neighborhood residents — a place where recreation, events, and programs bring people together across generations and backgrounds.

Today, the center continues to provide essential programs and services including:

  • Youth recreation and after-school programs
  • Senior fitness and social activities
  • Community meeting space
  • Seasonal events and celebrations
  • Health and wellness initiatives

The Consortium works closely with Smith-Hazel to ensure it remains a vibrant resource for current and future residents of Sugar Hill.

City & State Programs

Government services for Sugar Hill residents

Sugar Hill residents have access to a range of city, county, and state programs. The Consortium can help point you in the right direction — these are the offices we most often refer neighbors to.
